can't use this script

due to this script lacking a very important gender feature that really should have been put in from the very start and the fact the next version won't be released for some time (and who knows if it will even have the required feature in it)..

i don't think i can use this script, it would require a custom modification (according to fadillzzz), which i cannot afford to pay a php coder at this time. so i think i am going to pause work on it until a solution has been found.

but then again, what do i know.. (i'm not a mysidia designer)... other than the fact i owned an online mafia (mmorpg) game for 7 years and designed it all and made some good cash on it.

Ditto to what SDT asked. I'd like to know what gender feature is missing too. Gender was added to the base script since Mys v1.1.0, I also made a Gender Ratio modification for Mys v1.1.x(not compatible with Mys v1.2.x though, sorry I havent updated that script). If you have any other ideas regarding gender, please explain in more details.

fadillzzz did mention that and it wasn't available for the current version.

i want to set gender.. not aternate image..

like i have an animal, i upload the picture.. now i go to add the animal.. i can't set it's gender or it's offsprings gender.. and well, the feature is a must for me - and since the mod is not available nor can i pay fadillzzz (or anyone for that matter) at this time... this script just will not do and has rendered itself useless to me as this gender feature is required for my purposes.

i have a bull as one of my animals.. the bull must always be a male, also most offspring will be female - but not always - but i can't set the bull's gender as this script sits..

also, the option: "if user already has one, you cannot get another.." -didn't work and fdillzzz had fixed that.. but the end result when you go back to the adopt page is setup wrong - cause the animal should still be there (not disappear).. and the message seems a lil rude.. "you do not meet the requirements.... access denied!" - it should just say something like: "Sorry, but you are not allowed to have more than one of these animals"

Looks what you are seeking for is indeed a gender ratio script. If you are comfortable with basic PHP programming, you may modify the one I made for Mys v1.1.x to Mys v1.2.x in a few mins. Just set the gender ratio to be 0 if you want an adoptable to be male only, and 100 for female only.

'Gender" to the db and use a code similar to this..

the owner - (and/or his coders should have done this in the first place), but fadillzzz won't put it into my site for free nor will hof do it at all.. and i don't want multiple people touching my site (been through that before and it did not go well in the end just lead to more and more problems).

if i can't have it on my site.. then maybe it is time to move on - but don't expect me to speak highly of this script if i do move on.

i tried being nice and i tried to help hof.. but i guess it was all for nothing.. shame

also, why would there be a mod for an older version, but not done for the current one or put right in when the current version was being done while making plans for the next version (talk about putting the carriage in front of the horse)? lol, are you sure you don't want to have me as the designer hof?

Well the Mod was done a long time ago, thats why its compatible with Mys v1.1.x but not for Mys v1.2.x. After my GRE exam is over in July I may revise the script for Mys v1.2.x users.

object here is to make your users happy with your product.. even if it means doing things you don't want to (or have your coders do so).. either way, if you want to keep people interested - they don't play the waiting game for too long, but i am sure you realize that.

bite your tongue! i can more than likely run circles around you (and most people on here) when it comes to coding! i may not be good at php, but i make pc games, pc software, ds games, design websites, am a reseller for webonce.com and i owned an online mafia game that i designed fully and made thousands on and i also fix personal photos (8x10, wallets, etc..).. what can you do?

so don't go running your mouth to someone you don't know! either help or be quiet! atleast i was offering my services to hof FOR FREE EVEN! and yes, as a user - i have the right to complain - and if i wanted, i could gather up some former php coders and make a better script.. setup another game that would pay off the coders and still make money off the script.. so, shhh!

how old are you.. like 14? show some respect to yer elders! i'm 37 and have way way more experience than you! and made more money than you in this field.. all i ask is for some common sense when it comes to this script and it be added to my site for free (jadillzzz wants a service charge, after he helped code the script)! he's a nice guy and all (and i'll always accept his help) and i do appreciate his help, but i'll be damned if i am gonna pay for a service charge - to code something that is supposed to be part of a script he codes..

maybe i'm getting the wrong vibe.. but it seems like a bunch of friends putting this together.. but couldn't get it started so they bought the original script off someone and trying to continue with it.. if you look at the notes in the coding, you will see the same thing.. here's one for example:

because it would take too much time and effort to get it all setup, when it's easier just to help a group that needs help.. i could have this script running in 2 weeks for my daugter if it wasn't for that 1 issue.. if i go yer way, it would take me 6 months... i pick the easier way thank you!

I'd prefer to really stay out of this argument, but in my opinion your both right, maximillion is being a bit of a complainer but at same time is right on a few points. Leaving it at that.

I have a question for HOF, and that is why did you buy the script. And here's why I ask. I find it confusing, that you are, in a sense, hording the script. because if you bought it to make money off of it, which would be understandable then where are the ads or sales? And if you bought the rights to the script to 'save' it for what ever could of happened to it then you must be passionate about it. So why then is the script not open source and have a bigger development team, even if that have to be paid, which i believe ad revenue could cover.

I mean no offense to anyone by this post but want an incite to what is going on. Thanks.

Id really like to take on some requests from Mys users when I finish what I am supposed to do with Mys v1.3.0. Lemme know if you have anything to ask.

@ Maximillion: I am terribly sorry if Mys does not satisfy your need at this moment. As a public script, it is and will always be a standard script that the majority of users find it useful or entertaining. You may have some specific request that suits your own need, and this is what public or private modifications are supposed to do. At this moment the staff members are working on future official releases, and outside of them there aint really many skilled coders who volunteer to make a modification that matches your requirement. I may try to handle some of your requests when I am done with itemshop, but I cant promise you anything since I dont want to make promises that even I do not know if I will fulfill it. But anyway, I appreciate the fact that you are interested in this script and wish for it to improve.

@Nemisis: Mys is nonprofitable, its not my intention to make money out of it. I already explained my reasoning in that interview on VPL. I am a chemical engineer, site building/programming is a hobby to me and you pretty much ruin the fun when money is involved. Not mentioning adoptables scripts really aint profitable, which is why BMR sold it to me.

Ok I completely understand, however your forum seems to have around 100 people on at any given time and you can still be nonprofit and have ads. Just all proceeds could go to freelance programmers that would help better the script. And I would also argue that an adoptable site has tons of potential as they grow through page views.

i answered that already... to start from scratch and get the coders and all would take 6 months to set it all up, then startup a game to pay them off would take another 3 to 4 months... ect... i rather just be a part of a team that's already in motion - it's a lot easier and faster!

i have offered my help to hof for free because i'd like to see this script use it's full potential.. it's up to him if he wants it or not.
