I've decided to try my hand at fakemon, no art yet (once there is I'll have the thread moved) but here is what I have in mind for a fire type starter and it's evolutions...

Adaantaan – Starter fire type, a small firebird that can barely fly. Its tail is made from sparks of fire. [Fire]

Flyertaan – Stage One Evolution, after Adaantaan evolves for the first time, Flyertaan’s wings grow larger and it can now fly. Flyertaan’s wings and tail are now made from small flames. [Fire][Flying]

Meistertaan – Stage Two Evolution, Flyertaan’s final evolution is a great bird of fire. It’s flaming wings and tail feathers are cool to the touch of those it likes. [Fire][Flying]

I have an idea for water types, but need one for a grass starter... I would love feedback on my ideas so far as well. ;3

umm I know a few artists from my old pokemon forum, but not sure they are the type to do fakemon(though they have done splicing before, but fakemon is a different concept).

Don't worry Hoffie, I can sketch and clean up my own. It's a challenge to see if I can mimic other art types. I've been meaning to actually sketch and pixel my characters (Sidiko and Trent) to see what they look like when not rendered in 3D.

Thanks. ;3 I hope it goes over well. If I can get help on understanding PKMN cards perhaps I can make some for my fakes. ;3

Not really, but I do want to color it ^,^

I used your reference images to chose the colors. I hope you don't mind. (I didn't shade it cause I couldn't agree with myself where the shading would be)

Nah, I like to see what others can do. ;3 This guy's a fire type so when finished he'll be all sparkly reds and oranges. ;3

ooh! that sounds kind of pretty. I can't wait to see when it's done. (I could do a red and orange type deal.. but I haven't figured out how to sparkle yet).

For the sparks and such I'm using layer tricks in good old PS7. ;3 I love that software. ;3

These really look impressive, you are so good at concept art. I believe you have found a way to make pokemon-style sprites too, it is great seeing how many so-called pokemon artists can only do recoloring or splicing.

I cheated a bit on the sprite. ;3 You should see the ones that Orohnpokemon (http://orohnpokemon.deviantart.com/) does for his fakes... *drools*

The sprite's a bit big.

I know, I'm going to try and fix it. Any suggestions? I don't scratch sprite very well. ^^;

depending on what program you use you could either redraw it on a small canvas or re-size it and go over it pixel by pixel.

I use Photoshop, so I can re-size it.

^.^ I really like your sprites, scratch spriteing is hard. Sometimes it's nice to merge pokemon sprites to get the ideas flowing first, I don't have any experince with photoshop, but most 5th gen pokemon sprites are 96x96 in size, (I just checked that out xD) sorry if this is a little late, and I don't really have much experence, but this is all I know that might help, so resize it to around that size ^^

It's not as hard as it looks. ;3 I've made doll bases before. ;3

Here's a new image of Adaantaan, I've finished the lines and started to color. I'll sprite it later on. ;3
