One level per click?

Well, how do I make sure that each time you click on an adoptable it gains 1 level?
Should I write like Level 1: 1 and Level 2: 2?
Or should I make it all 1?
Help?

you start with 2 then go up by one

EXAMPLE

to level one: 2
to level two: 3

because it starts at level zero
