So, my first problem is is that I can't log into my Filezilla, or at least, it won't connect. It says everything is green and blue, and good, except my password. It won't accept my password. Or at least I think. It says PASS in blue and big, but then right after it says Login Authentication Failed, and "critical error", and "cannot connect to server". My password is right, I double checked it and redid it. It won't connect.

My third error, is that I don't know where the "public_html" file is located. I can't find it. And then, after that, how do I put those files into the "left box"?

I am follow that tutorial and talking about Step #11.

Well the public_html folder should be easily visible to you once you log into your FTP account, unless your ftp is set up for another directory not in public_html. What do you see from the folders/files list after you sign into FTP? You may want to take a screenshot so we can help you further.

My country can't see tinypic links :( In filezilla you should be able to see this:

Also, are you using the correct host/user/password combination? It should be your FTP account

I think you misunderstood what I meant by public_html. It is a folder hosted on your website/server, it is where the files of mysidia adoptables are supposed to be uploaded to. Of course the script itself does not come with a public_html folder, since this folder is reserved for the root directory of your own server.

From the way your ftp looks, you did not enter the ftp host info correctly. I seriously doubt the ftp host is 000webhost.com, it should be something else. You can check this through cpanel's ftp accounts, or simply ask the support staff from 000webhost.

Okay, I just need to make sure I did this right, if that's okay? I took that and dragged it over to the right box into the public_html...

I didn't use the "upload" though, all I did was drag The Mysidia Adoptables folder over to the public_html folder.

I'm on #14 of this tutorial. I found the "inc", but I can't find the config.php

I can't see the screenshot, but config.php is config_adopts.php, rename it to config.php

Moontides

Yes! That helps! Do I rename it on the web host or on Filezilla? (I did it on both--- hope that isn't bad)

My second issue, is that I'm on #18 now, and I'm confused. My domain? Do I need to make it on .10xhosting? Or is it already the one provided, http://carriedaway.comule.com/?

http://www.mysidiaadoptables.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1663 (just the link again to the tutorial)

It says open a new tab, but then in the next step it says "once you have successfully installed it". What? Where did it ever mention installing anything?

Oi, what do I do? (so many issues hhaa I'm sorry!)

The renamed file config.php has to be on your site's files, as long as it's there you can rename it where you want ^^

Okay, thank you! :)

You should have a link to your site, in whatever host you use. It seems your site with mysidia will be http://carriedaway.comule.com/Mysidia%20Adoptables%20v1.3.4 because you put the mysidia files inside a folder named Mysidia Adoptables v1.3.4 inside public_html. Rename the folder to something else you'd like? Or put the files outside that folder (directly inside public_html) to make it the root of your site (http://carriedaway.comule.com)

It says open a new tab at the /install page. Once you reach the /install page you will need to follow the steps through installation. In this case, your install page is http://carriedaway.comule.com/Mysidia%20Adoptables%20v1.3.4/install

Is that the url people will have to type in to get to my site?

IntoRain

Yes (minus /install, that /install page will have to be deleted after installation), that's why I suggest changing the folder's name (from Mysidia Adoptables v.3.1.4 to something else) or copying the contents of that folder to directly inside public_html (makes it the root site)

But I haven't made a host site for a domain yet... is the tutorial like put in backwards or something?

(I'm really unsure of how to do what you're saying.)

Isn't http://carriedaway.comule.com your site?

Moontides
05-25-2014, 10:40 PM
Yes, that is my site. So would they type in that to just get to my site, or the Mysidia thing too?

And if it's only that, why would I rename the folder?

IntoRain

For example, think of public_html as the full link to your site http://carriedaway.comule.com. Any folder with mysidia files you put in public_html, for example Folder1, will be accessible like this http://carriedaway.comule.com/Folder1

In your case, you don't have anything in public_html, besides the folder Mysidia Adoptables v.1.3.4, so your users will have to go to http://carriedaway.comule.com/Mysidia Adoptables v.1.3.4 to access your site (once installed).

If you rename the folder to something else, your users will be able to use that link instead. To use http://carriedaway.comule.com (root) you need to copy the contents of the mysidia folder to public_html

I thought I already did that... When I dragged them over and placed them into the public_html? If I haven't, how do I do that?

IntoRain

In filezilla, connect to it and on the right box, click public_html. Check if you have random files and folders or just one folder with everything inside. Maybe you just dragged the main folder itself? If you have just the Mysidia folder: Go to the left box and open the mysidia folder, select all of the files inside, right click them and choose upload (while inside public_html on the right box).

How do I select all the files inside?

The tutorial makes it seem like my url would be something with .10xhosting, so if I already have a url and hosting site, why would I need to make a .10x hosting url?

IntoRain
05-26-2014, 02:34 PM
You don't need, you already have a site. x10hosting is another possible host where you could have made an account. The tutorial is for both x10hosting and 00webhost (which seems to be yours), that's why it mentions both.

To select all files inside, go inside the folder, click the first file and then scroll down and then click the last file while holding the shift key (left shift)

Well if you are struggling uploading the files or installing the script, you can send me a PM about your ftp info and I can do it for you when I have time tonight or tomorrow. Also provide your desired admin username/password if you do not want the first admin user to be wasted.
