How to install updates to your MyBB forums?

So I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I install plugins or updates to my MyBB forum? I had it all installed by Famer so I'm not sure where stuff goes after I download it lol. Like, do I somehow install the files to somewhere in phpmyadmin? Or...somewhere on MyBB? I'm lost XD there are so many plugins I'm wanting to install.

You use mostly FTP, to upload the files to the server. You may need Phpmyadmin only if the plugin requires changes of database tables/structures, but it can be done by running a simple script too, and some plugins have 'installer scripts' that do this for you.
