Yeah I'd say you need a different way to advertise/promote your site. A good idea is to look at ideas that have worked before, its no easy task though. I am not good at this kind of thing either, to be honest.

I see, looks like you are determined to move. Better job opportunities sure can be a huge driving force, especially under this current circumstance. Do you know what these open jobs are? Are they closely related to your desired profession? Just curious.

I have small unobtrusive ads on my blogs powered by Google, they aren't really generating all that much, because people usually don't visit the main page when they follow you on tumblr...

I have never been more tempted to move to where my either of my grandmothers live, one is in Grove City, PA (huge shopping center, college town) and the other lives down in Washington, PA (two malls, several strip malls, etc...). I know that there are huge amounts of open jobs there, here not so much.

No worries. XD And yeah, its indeed been quite hot lately. Blogging sure dont make your better financially, but its still a pretty good way to kill time. Oh looking for apartment? Hopefully you find a place where its not only cheaper to rent but also easier to find a job nearby. Finding jobs is now a universal issue, but Australian cousin told me how his classmates were struggling to find a job in Sydney. Some of the stories were hard to believe before, but now I completely understand.

Better, been too hot to even think about drawing or coding. Been blogging though. Don't make any money doing that. I have been selling stuff through uSell, and doing surveys and reading emails through InboxDollars as well trying to make little by little. If anything I'll hit up the DSS and sign up for their services and start looking for an apartment

It's just too much staying here, no way to get to work, too far for a taxi, no bus in the rural areas, etc...

I see, but dont you think you can simply hire people to do volunteering work if its about the forums and wiki? I dont have ads on my sites/forums either, and hopefully this has made navigation on Mysidia enjoyable at least by a little bit. XD

The goal is something that I can have hired staff for the forums, hired staff for the wiki, etc, so money will go towards that more than anything unless it gets way big. I really don't want to have ads on site. I think I may be in over my head, but it'll be worth it. And I have time now, the Bug and I took an hour long walk, and now we need to rest...

Indeed it will be more complicated than other scripts as you will need to manipulate image functionalities that not many programmers are familiar with. Its doable though, but Id say working on the easy tasks first. XD

Sounds like you have a plan, I wish you good luck on that. Not sure whether you will need a better hosting though, a standard shared host is good enough for sites less than 200-300 members. If you reach Silverdragontear's popularity, it will be necessary to upgrade to VPS.
