When you do the content1 test, where does it appear, at the top of the screen?

Try making the content1 function like:

Then see if that works. If it does, then article_content doesn't like echo statements directly in the variable.

It works with variables.. but I was trying with functions, cause I want to use the 'include' function to show the news, but I have no idea why they don't show in the right place :/

Hi , sorry to bump this but I followed this guide and still am only getting the BBC codes working.
