Diversification of Programming - What do you think?
 

Hello All,

Looking forward, I've got some big plans on what to program next. I wanted to let you know of the ideas I had and get some feedback, both for multi-user and multiforums scripts and other scripts.

For multiforum scripts:


Well, for multiforums / multi-user scripts I want to work on making the MyBB Multiforums Mod even better. I plan to release a new version sometime soon that adds more features to the Host Admin CP portion of the script. I also want to fix the avatar bug in the next release as well.

For other forum softwares I was thinking I may make a multiforum script for either PHPBB3 or XMB sometime in the future.

New Stuff - Non multiforum:

I also want to make some non-multiforum scripts. One I want to make is a RapidShare link protection script so if you want to run a site like linx.in or similar.

I also want to make an image / MP3 host script at some point. The idea I had for this though is to make it where not only can users find content on your site, but users from one site can also dynamically search multiple sites running the software at once to grab media.

I also have considered making an adoptables type script that would let you start an adoptables site for users. These are I think a great way to make money. :)

Let me know what you think of these ideas. Do you have an interest in other non-multiforum scripts?

If you can make another phpBB3 script, then it will be great! But please don't raise the price for premium members to more than $25 :S

If you were to make a video hosting script, forget it. There is already 1 very popular one going around :)

Nice selection there :)

Might I suggest that if you start creating many more scripts, that you use more arrays over variables to keep things more organized and also try and work with classes a lot more as these days the best, most professional scripts (like mybb) take this object orientated approach. This way the code will be cleaner code and provide a better base for building great things on :)

phpBB would be the preferred option over XMB as it is more mainstream and there now lacks a multiforums script in active development for phpBB3. If you could get it to work with databased templates too that would be awsome :) You could probably easily do the same to the triton script by editing their template class to get the template from a database rather then a file.

I've been thinking of maybe making a PHPBB3 one. I don't plan to raise the per-script price that high, but I have been thinking of making something called a "gold" membership where for $30 or something you get Premium status for every script I ever make here for life. :) Existing Premium Members would also get a discount.

Maybe someday I'll implement this Gold membership. :)

Yay! I say make them all so as long as you enjoy what your doing... Pointless to code if you dont enjoy it... Its not like your getting rich from this...

Brandon, the current premium membership is for MyBB, AEF & Triton?

Anyway, phpBB3 is sure gonna boost popularity. But MyBB is still better, but I have no idea why phpBB is so popular..

I know I won't get rich off of it. I do enjoy it and each new program helps me learn something new.

It's for the MyBB and AEF script only, not Triton. The Gold membership would cover everything if I ever made this an option.

Actually There is no Premium membership forum for AEF and/or Triton even tho Triton isnt included... but didnt it say somewhere that Premium was for every script on the site? idc tbh

I do not remember ever giving premium for every script on the site. It was for the MyBB script only, but I threw in the AEF script free because I'm not actively developing it anymore.

Oh I see. AEF also have premium functions? o.o

AEF doesn't have any Premium functions, but Premium members can remove the copyright if they wish.

Triton, yes you can put ads on the websites. An ad will appear at the bottom of the page. :)

I see you've been looking into novaboard, is this a possible project? Personaly I think its not yet mature enough but still looks interesting, infact it looks like IPB :P

Yes, if Novaboard ever gets out of Beta it might be a good candidate. :)

Right now, yes that is the case. That's why it's only a beta. :)

Currently the script is still in beta so no there aren't any Premium upgrades yet. As the script progresses more features will be added. :)
