help needed with upgrade

hey, it's me again :D

I've installed the upgrader folder in my "adoptables" folder on my FTP, like it said in the other thread on how to upgrade. And when I try to run the upgrade on http://www.borrowedangels.com/pets/upgrader I get the following errors.

PASS: Your old levels.php file has been found successfully.

FAIL: We could not find an installation of PHP EasyAdoptables on this database. Did you remember to install the new Rusnak PHP Adoptables script on the same database as your existing install?

FAIL: We could not find an installation of Rusnak PHP Adoptables on this database.

Now I'm just wondering what I did wrong...:( can someone help me out again?

RE: help needed with upgrade

It looks like it is not finding either the old install or the new one. Did you install the new version on the same database as the old version before attempting to run the upgrader?

Lady_Olive 06-20-2009 12:58 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

if with new version, you mean "Rusnak_PHP_Adoptables_100", that one is in the folder that my adoptables folder is in. Could there be a problem that I renamed my adoptables folder to "pets" when I first set up the adoptables site?

BMR777 06-20-2009 01:03 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

I don't know if renaming the folder could have caused any issues. It's odd that it's not finding the old and new versions.

You have the new version currently installed at /pets, correct? Did you install it and is it working and not giving any errors? Do you have at least one user account on the new version?

Where is the old version installed on your site?

Lady_Olive 06-20-2009 01:13 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

the old version is the folder called pets... I think I'm getting confused :( I should install the new adoptables folder like I did the old one? Like create an MySQL and everything?

edit: okay, I added the website and installed the new adoptables folder.
website is: http://www.borrowedangels.com/Adoptables/index.php

I tried the upgrader again and it still gives me the same error o.O

BMR777 06-20-2009 05:34 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

Install the new adoptables script like you did the old one, only instead of making a new MySQL database, use the same details you used when you created the original MySQL database for the old version.

Make sure you install both on the same database. Also, now that the new one is at /Adoptables then you can upload the /upgrader folder to Adoptables/upgrader and then put levels.php inside the upgrader folder. :)

RE: help needed with upgrade

I got one step further, hahaha :P with the upgrader in the new Adoptables folder :D

PASS: Your old levels.php file has been found successfully.

FAIL: We could not find an installation of PHP EasyAdoptables on this database. Did you remember to install the new Rusnak PHP Adoptables script on the same database as your existing install?

PASS: Your new installation of Rusnak PHP Adoptables was found by the installer..

And I'm not sure what you mean with the same details for the MySQL... when I used the name for the MySQL I used for my old adoptables site, it gave me a whole list of errors :( but with the new MySQL it seems to work. Or will I have to use the new SQL list through the PHP admin thing on the old MySQL? I'll try that...

BMR777 06-20-2009 06:22 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

Are both sites on the same domain? You should be able to use the same details for the database user, database password, database for installing the new version as you did for installing the old.

You can also now import the tables from your old install in PHPMyAdmin to the new database if that's how you want to do it. :)

RE: help needed with upgrade

it worked!! :D thanks!!:D

Now I just need to update the look of the site.. but I'm sure you have a thread for that :P

and it seems that the pictures sill don't work on other sites o.O or did I have to redo the html codes for that? because I can see the pictures on the adoptable page... o.O

trollis76 06-21-2009 03:41 AM

RE: help needed with upgrade

Don't forget to delete the update file, or perhaps your site could be stolen? Or?

Lady_Olive 06-21-2009 03:49 AM

RE: help needed with upgrade

well... I redid the code and it still doesn't show my adoptables on other sites :(

http://www.borrowedangels.com/pets.htm at the bottom is where my own adoptables should be

BMR777 06-21-2009 10:57 AM

RE: help needed with upgrade

Users will need to re-generate HTML and BBCodes for their adoptables. The old codes do not work with the new version, so they'll have to re-generate and paste the new codes into their signatures to display the adoptables.

Lady_Olive 06-21-2009 02:33 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

I did get the new codes that were generated on the new website. But it doesn't work :(

I past this code on my website and it doesn't work. I'm not seeing the picture at all :(

<img src="http://www.borrowedangels.com/siggy.php?id=47" border=0></a>

RE: help needed with upgrade

Maybe try enabling fancy signature image BBCodes:
http://www.rusnakweb.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1032&pid=7871#pid7871

Try that and see if it helps. :)

RE: help needed with upgrade

thanks for that :) I tried it. changed the /adoptables200/ to /pets/ since that's where the adoptables are located. Then I changed the htacces.txt to .htaccess and added the codes to my site again, but no luck :(

I'm almost positive it's gonna be something silly in the end *hides*

oh and I can't get my theme to work either  I added it to the website and when I go to the admin.php I can see my theme there, but when I select it, I still have the same feathery theme :P

Do I need to CHMOD the new theme or anything?

BMR777 06-22-2009 12:46 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

With the theme, try going back to your homepage. It might not change the theme right away, only after you browse to another page. :)

What site are the codes not working on? If you go to yoursite.com/pets/get/1.gif does the pet with the ID #1 appear?

Lady_Olive 06-22-2009 12:50 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

I changed my theme yesterday... o.O I did so again, but it seems to go back to the default for some reason... also... my default shows up twice o.O as do my pets on the adoptables website (freaky... )

well.. I use png pictures linked from my photobucket.... does that make a difference?

BMR777 06-22-2009 01:02 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

I don't know why things are showing up twice. :(

If they are linked from photobucket that may be part of it. I haven't tested it with images that are not hosted on the server. It should still work though, unless photobucket may be blocking it.

Lady_Olive 06-22-2009 03:06 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

okay, then I'm gonna be really stupid :D where do I upload the images (I presume I should put them as gif :P ) on my pets folder to link them to the pets? I know how to change the link on MySQL (one of my problems from a few weeks back, ahahaha)

trollis76 06-23-2009 02:48 AM

RE: help needed with upgrade

Lady_Olive:
When you are at the Manage Adoptables -page you press the upload adoptable picure or something like that. :)

Lady_Olive 06-23-2009 04:34 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

I think this script hates me *cries* I uploaded the pictures in gif format to the site (in the picuploads/gif/ folder) changed the links to the new gifs in the MySQL. Got the new html codes and I still can't see them >____<

trollis76 06-24-2009 04:12 AM

RE: help needed with upgrade

Well, perhaps you need to actually chance the name of the pics, and not just in the database.
Go into your FTP-thing and go to picuploads, gifs, *YOURPIC* and rename it to whatever you renamed it in the MySQL Database.

Do they not work on all sites or just a specific site?

Lady_Olive 06-24-2009 01:39 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

well I only use the html codes on two other sites. One is my own site ( www.borrowedangels.com/pets.htm ) and the others is a Dutch site, where the codes of the old script did work in the beginning o.O

@trollis: I didn't rename them. I uploaded the pictures in my adoptable folder, then went to the MySQL and changed the link from the photobucket one to that on my own site. for example, I changed it to:

http://www.borrowedangels.com/pets/picuploads/gif/aquarius1.gif

and if you open that link in the browser, it does work

BMR777 06-24-2009 02:18 PM

RE: help needed with upgrade

Ok, it looks like the BBCodes that are being generated are off a bit. When you created the site and installed the adoptables script did you set the script path box to /pets?

What's happening is that the BBCodes are pointing to the wrong place on your server. Open your inc > config.php file and make sure that the $script_path variable is set to /pets instead of being blank. Once that value is set correctly then the BBCodes should work fine.
