I'll just back up the entire web folder and database just in case. But as of now SQL won't even turn on and my root user seems to be locked out. There was 20gb spike in traffic so I think there is a good chance it has been compromised.
Going forward I will be upgrading to a new server and getting WHM license. Only thing really holding me up is the domain name. Any ideas? Short and .com preferred. I also plan on starting a free web host community again if anyone is interested |
what about gemnode.com? Where every website is a gem.
Free sub domains will be provided. example yoursite.gemnode.com possible logos http://i.imgur.com/b0C6PtJ.png |
I dunno, I heavily associate 'gem' with the use of Ruby/Ruby on Rails language - so you'd want to be sure it's 100% possible to host Ruby applications if you're associating with gems. And 'node' is heavily implied it will be 100% possible to host NodeJS applications. Neither are terribly possible if all we make use of is vanilla Apache?
And I'd love to be wrong. I'd love to make use of NodeJS in my projects. Finding hosting that can do that is both rare and expensive. Nodes can be quite server intensive. |
More fun updates. I could not log in as root user and all of the issues were because SSD was 100% full.
Luckily I was able to ftp in and delete some web files to then get root access to clear few gigs of log files. |
Gemnode is almost ready for production use, stay tuned.
