Darn! Domain Expired.

Darn! I just realized that one of my domains, becomeaforumhost.com just expired. I had registered this domain name about 2 years ago and I used it a long time ago to try and start a multiforums support service (this is before I developed multiforums scripts myself) and now it is expired. In recent weeks I've been using it solely as a development domain because I can only have a wildcard subdomain script on one domain at a time.

I knew for a while that it would expire, and at times I wanted to cancel the expiration but the darn domain registrar (1and1) would not let me uncancel the domain. (Imagine that)

Normally I keep domains forever. All of my important domains, like webringamerica.com and the like are set to automatically renew every year, so I don't have to worry about renewing them. I had to manually cancel becomeaforumhost.com.

Anyway though, I have the mybbmultiforums.com domain that I will use for the MyBB Multiforums Script. I am thinking of getting another domain though and moving everything related to my PHP development to it. I'll probably keep the forums in the same place though and just link to them.

I just had to vent. I was just shocked when I went to the domain today and it was gone. :(

Sad for you.. Anyway, you could use GoDaddy instead?

No, GoDaddy is a pain. 1and1 is nice and cheaper too. :)

Erm, can you compare more about it? I've heard many people saying GoDaddy is good?

If its just for development where no one sees you could just use a .co.cc as aren't they full dns etc?

That's a good idea Ajof. :)

The only thing is, I have to go to my host every time that I want a new domain with wildcard functionality enabled for the subdomains. I hate to bug them every time I get a new domain. :)

I need a new domain anyway though for my PHP development. I have a couple of new scripts I want to develop and I'll need a new domain to put them on. :)

thats sad to hear from 1and1

i use fxdomains (cant complain about it ^^ exept that they ask for everything money ... but they got auto refresh for websites and so on )

i never heard it before that a host refuse to accept a paymend from a client , even if the domain name is canceled

exept , that it gave probaly more trouble then canceling the cancel becouse it was canceled somewhere els (hard to explain :S)

but still , i get normal a confirmation when the domain is about to expire so i got 10 days time to renew it ^^ (and then it is canceled)

That would be so great Ajof! What control panel does the server use? I'll probably register a co.cc then this weekend and then PM you with the details. That would be great, thanks. :)

co.cc domain may take up to 48 hours to configure. So I suggest you register one as soon as possible. =D
