Ads..?
Okay, this has really been confusing me, what the heck is the ads feature for..? What does it do? How does it function? |
As far as I know, the ads dont do anything lol. It was an old feature carried over from Rusnak Adoptables, and I havent really touched it much. If you request it, I may end up revising the ads system a little bit so it can display an image link at the footer.

Ah, I see ^_^ I was just trying to figure out what the heck it did XD
|
No problem, it really doesnt do much. If you are with a free host or shared host they probably have their own ads on your site lol.
|
I tired it out but nothing actually changes from what I can tell...ad never showed up show *shrug* It's not really a feature I'd use, at this point in time. Though one can't help but wonder how it was actually supposed to function...
|
The reason why it never shows up is that current themes do not use the placeholder :AD:(or :ADS:) on the template file.
|
I know why it doesn't work.
When say you place the html code for the ad like: <img>ad.png</img> or whatever. When the Admin Panel places that code into the ad database it changes the < and > into Code:
<.; Code:
>.; To fix it you have to manually access your database from say PHPMYADMIN and insert it there or set it up so the text box doesn't convert html characters. |
Interesting, I thought it was all because the ad placeholder is not being used in the template file, seems that theres more to it. Anyway, its not like people have been asking much about the ads system before. I will make sure its working in Mys v1.3.3 though, since it is part of the footer widget.

Yeah it works perfectly fine other then that I use it on my dev site for Google Adsense.
|
Hm, I knew I was forgetting some things in the themes... ;3 Oh well, I don't like ads all that much myself.
