thats a nice host of you
but the problem he have is that he cant use any sub domains then :S
or cpanel does the same (httpconf)
then to answer to the plesk question
funny part is that it is possible as long you got a dns server and apache
apache is needed to add the redirection
dns is needed to add the redirection to
as cpanel basic installs a dns server is that problem solved , but plesk does have a external dns server ( is on windows ) so you need to use that dns server to handle the wildcard (and httpconf to handle the subdomain appointing)
its like in cpanel
if you create a new domain name in cpanel and you remove the dns , then it will refuse to work
if you delete the sub domain but you leave the dns , then you see a nice cpanel start page (this server is running cpanel ... and so on)
so if you use google to gain a bit of basic (or as backup) and you are not affraid to break stuff , then it is even possible to do this on a dedicated server with only apache on it
the basic is the same , change dns and httpconf for the right place
to make it short
httpconf says what domain name goes to what directory and ip
dns says what domain name is what ip (domain name server )
so having them both local (like cpanel) is the easy'st way , having them extern is harder but still possible
please note , if you use the dns of your domain registrar then it is possible that you are limited to xx subdomains (like mine , limited to 99 subdomains)
hopely this helps you a lot :D
