Well, you can upload the adoptables anywhere you can upload an image. You can either upload them to your website using the file manager your host uses, you can upload them to your site using FTP, or you can upload them to a site like imageshack.us or photobucket and link to them that way.
Editing the levels will be a bit tricky. The script is only meant to have 8 levels per pet. In the new release (coming soon) there will be unlimited levels per pet. :)
For the settings.php error, you need to CHMOD settings.php to 777 using your host's file manager so it is writable. That will remove the errors when you try to change a setting. :)
