Well the best way to accomplish this is to use cronjob. A mark will be placed on your adoptables once it is clicked, and it is removed after 12 hours. If you have PHP 5.3.x, then congratulations, you can manipulate date calculation functions such as "date add", which makes your life much easier. It is recommended only for advanced users with at least VPS hosting package.
