Error 500
Hi there,
Did a search of the forum but couldn't quite find anything related to mine. I can access any of the folders - run installation (all SQL installed correctly on PHPMyAdmin that I can see) etc. But all of the main pages comes up with: Quote:
I've tried it rather than through the domain name, doing it through the subdomain path off my main domain (if that makes sense). And I still get that error. Thanks for any help in advance. |

500 Internal server error means your domain/site isnt set up yet, or has been misconfigured. You probably need to consult your hosting package provider for help. Did you just get a domain/subdomain? If so, this may be common since domain propagation takes time to complete(before its all done, you usually receive 500 internal server error).

I've been trying this since yesterday to no avail.
I did just get the domain for this site and that's why I tried off the main domain, as that has been running for years and years, but still the same thing. Because I thought it might be a propagation thing. I'll try it off an entirely different domain and report back to you. |

Just get the same thing. I can run the install fine, browse the other folders, but the main files are a no go.
Tried www.creaturata.com (the main domain I wanted) www.bestofbreedsim.com/creaturata (the folder where all the files are located which is where the domain points) and www.dreamwaterdesigns.com/adopts Both the second two domains have been around for a very long time. The first one I purchased yesterday. |

Yes, first one I did creaturata.com as the domain, and nothing in the script path.
Second one I did bestofbreedsim.com as the domain and /creaturata as the script path. Third one I did dreamwaterdesigns.com as the domain and /adopts as the script path. That's correct? Is there meant to be a page which comes up even before you run installation telling you to install? I know MyBB redirects you to install (I get that one fine). I just installed MyBB and it works fine http://www.creaturata.com/forum/ Last edited by Taintedkitten; 01-06-2013 at 02:56 PM. |

umm it does not seem to me that you did anything wrong here, weird. If you have defined an incorrect database, it should display an error message rather than a blank page. Do you have an error log on your site? If so, can you check what's inside it? There are many possibilities I can think of. Other than database error, theres also a chance the host is not 'localhost' for your site.

I run www.bestofbreedsim.com fine with localhost and the forum installed fine with it, so I know it is that.
Ah, so I found the error log and got quite a few things going on there! Hopefully it makes sense to you? Quote:

umm it seems that you have more than one issue... *sigh*
First of all, you need to consult with your host regarding the RewriteCond: NoCase option error. It seems that your apache server was configured incorrectly, or that your host has disabled Mod_rewrite. And is your host running PHP 5.2? If so, your best shot is to request for server upgrade. It looks to me that you pick a wrong hosting service.

That's odd, been with the host for many years and haven't had any issues but will try with them. Mod rewrite is enabled by default on the accounts so it could be something else.
And yes, I just looked at my phpinfo page and it is running 5.2 but it seems we can change that ourselves so I'll give that a go. Last edited by Taintedkitten; 01-06-2013 at 03:26 PM. |
